Understanding Child Trafficking: A Guide for grades 3-5

This content aims to educate 3rd to 5th graders about child trafficking in an accessible and reassuring way, empowering them with the knowledge and strategies they need to stay safe.

What is Child Trafficking?

What is child trafficking?

Child trafficking is when a person takes a child somewhere to use them for things that are very wrong and harmful. It's important to know that this can happen, so we can stay safe.

How to Stay Safe

Know Who to Trust

  • Always stay with people you know, like family members, teachers, or close friends.
  • If someone you don’t know asks you to go with them, say no and find a trusted adult immediately.

Say "No" and Tell

  •  It’s okay to say no to adults if they ask you to do something that makes you uncomfortable.
  • Always tell a trusted adult if something strange or scary happens.

Buddy System

  •  Always use the buddy system. Stick with a friend when you're out and about, especially in unfamiliar places.

Know Important Information

  • Memorize your parents' phone numbers and your home address.
  • Know how to call 911 or your local emergency number.

Internet Safety

  • Never share personal information online without asking a parent first.
  • Don’t agree to meet someone you met online without talking to a parent.
